How do I select my preferred Weather Station?

This article explains how to select your preferred Weather Station to get more accurate data for your controller.

Note

You do not necessarily need to select a specific weather station. Many Rachio users prefer to use our Weather Intelligence Plus Network as their Weather Source.

Find & Select Weather Stations 

Select the Account icon in the top right corner.

From the Account page select Homes > select the Home where the controller is located > Weather Source > then select Weather Station. Based on the geolocation of your home, the app (mobile or web) will provide a list of the closest official stations as well as personal weather stations (PWS).


1) Viewing Stations

Select "Weather Source" and then "Weather Station". 

The Weather Station menu will open and display available weather stations in your area will (listed based on distance from your home).




2) Select a Weather Station

Each station ID will be indicated by four capitalized letters. In the example above we have selected station KBJC.


Note

If you select "More Info" for a station, you'll be redirected to weather reports for the station:  (example shows  KBKF, from above) 


How can I tell what weather stations are closest to my home?

Follow the instructions below to check out the weather stations we might use to run Weather Intelligence checks on your controller.


  1. Head to WeatherUnderground

    This is our weather forecasting partner. 

  2. Search your area

    In the search box on the top right, search for your area or click "Find Nearest Station"

  3. Browse

    Take a look at the data the nearest weather station is providing and decide if that matches what you're experiencing at your home. You can also look at other stations by clicking "Change" and reviewing other stations in your area.
