What to do if your Rachio controller is offline?
Did your controller go offline? Rachio is here to help!
Most of the time, this issue results in your controller showing offline in your app (visible from the Home screen). In this case, your controller's LED lights will show the first light as solid, with no lights blinking.
- Power cycle controller
Begin by power cycling your controller. To do this, unplug your controller, wait about fifteen seconds, and then plug your controller back in. After plugging your controller back in, watch for your controller's LED lights to show all four lights as solid. This can take up to about three minutes.
- Check router settings
If power cycling does not reconnect your controller, check your router settings and ensure you do not have any advanced security or firewall settings (as this can prevent your controller from communicating with the Rachio cloud). If you do have these settings, we recommend disabling them until your controller can connect and receive the new firmware.
- Watch for lights
After changing your router settings, power cycle your controller again, and watch for your controller's LED lights to show all four lights as solid. This can take up to about three minutes.
- Update firmware
If you do not have unique firewall or security settings, or changing them does not help with reconnecting your controller, we will try to update your controller's firmware via the app.
In app firmware update
Begin by connecting your smartphone to the Wi-Fi network your controller was previously connected to. Then, complete the steps below:
Using your Rachio mobile app, go to the "More" tab:
- Select "Controller Settings."
- Within controller settings, select "Technical info."
Near the bottom of this screen you will see "Firmware version." If available, select "UPDATE NOW". Follow the prompts within the app. Confirm for your controller's LED lights to show all four lights as solid. This can take up to three minutes.
If the above steps do not successfully connect your controller, please run a Wi-Fi scan and provide this code to Rachio support via the question mark icon in the top right corner of the Rachio app.
