Zone not activating
Last Update:Feb 15 2022 6:25pm • Est. Read Time:Est. Read Time: 2 MINOnce you try to run a zone, the app acts like it's watering but you can see no water coming off of the sprinklers. If that's the situation and you're wondering "how do I turn on my sprinklers?" or "my zones are not running, what should I do?", this article is for you!
First, we need to determine if you can activate a zone via the app and quick run via controller button press. If you can activate a zone via the app but not the button press, the buttons have become contaminated with debris. You can try cleaning the buttons:
- Use a clean dry toothbrush, gently and thoroughly scrub the space between the button and the controller house.
- This is best done with the controller faced upside down.
If this is not enough to resolve the issue, you may need a replacement controller under warranty. Please reach out to our support team for assistance.
If you are able to run a quick run from the Rachio app or through the manual buttons at the unit, and the app says the zone is running but no water is coming out, please follow these steps:
- Switch the wire for a zone that is working with the non-working zone. For example, if Zone 1 isn't working, but Zone 2 is, swap the wires around.
- Once you swap the wires, go into the Rachio App and select the Quick Run button on your Home screen.
- Run the zone you swapped the wire for and check if you see any water coming out of the original non-working zone. So if you swapped Zone 1 for Zone 2, you will test Zone 2 in the app.
If the issue was resolved by swapping the wires, you have a defective terminal for the non-working zone and you need a replacement controller. If that's the case, reach out to our support team with a copy of your original receipt for the warranty claim.
If the issue persists, you probably have a defective wire or something wrong with your irrigation system, such as a stuck valve for that zone. In this case, we recommend that you reach out to an irrigation specialist for assistance.
