## Updating your Wi-Fi Network - App

The Rachio app will guide you through updating your Wi-Fi network. Open the app, go to the **"Settings"** tab in the bottom-right corner, select **"Update Wi-Fi Network",** and follow the on-screen steps to connect to your new network. The app will confirm once your controller is successfully connected.

## Wi-Fi Reset Step-by-Steps

### Rachio 3

**1.** Press and hold the Wi-Fi button on the controller until the light bar is fully illuminated. A blue flash will indicate the device has accepted the command.

**2.** Wait for the second quadrant to start blinking yellow/orange, then try reconnecting to Wi-Fi using the app.

### Rachio Generation 2

**1.** Unplug your controller from the power source, then plug it back in.

**2.** As soon as it powers on, press and hold the Down Arrow and Select buttons at the same time until the full LED light ring illuminates, then release both buttons.

**3.** Wait for the second light to begin blinking, then try reconnecting to Wi-Fi using the app.

#### Note

The Rachio Generation 1 controller does not have manual reset buttons. To reset the Wi-Fi connection, open the app, go to the **Settings** tab, and select **Update Wi-Fi Network**.

## Factory Reset Step-by-Step

In some cases performing a factory reset may be needed in order to update the Wi-Fi network, or to reboot the controller to resolve potential errors. Please note that a Factory Reset does not erase your device settings in the Rachio app, such as schedules and zone configurations - It only clears the controller’s internal memory that allows schedules to run without a Wi-Fi connection. As long as you do not delete the controller from your Rachio account, your schedule information will be resynced to the internal memory once the controller reconnects to the internet, and watering will continue as previously scheduled.

###

### Rachio 3

**1.** Unplug the controller from power for 5 seconds and plug it back in.

**2.** Press and hold the Stop Button (top of the round white button). You’ll see the light bar filling up in yellow. As soon as the entire light bar flashes blue, release the Stop Button.

**3.** Wait for the controller to boot up again. The first light will go solid blue, and the second one will start flashing yellow. The controller is now ready to be reconnected. During reconnection, if the controller does not advance past the second light flashing yellow, please view [this article](https://support.rachio.com/en_us/issues-connecting-to-new-model-iphoneipad-and-samsung-phonestablets-HJIBvLyFv) for additional troubleshooting steps. ![](https://cdn.kustomerhostedcontent.com/media/5f775c7b7cad407e578daa84/408a1c1b5f37bb541e45e952475c6ddc.png)

### Rachio Generation 2

**1.** Unplug the controller.

**2.** With the controller unplugged, press and hold the Up Arrow and the Select Button. Keeping both buttons held down, plug the controller back in, and continue holding both buttons until the LED light ring is fully illuminated.

**3.** Once the LED light ring is fully illuminated, release both buttons. The first light at the bottom of the branch logo will turn solid blue, and the second light will begin flashing. The controller is now ready to be reconnected. During reconnection, if the controller does not advance past the second light, ensure you are connecting to a dedicated 2.4 GHz network. ![](https://cdn.kustomerhostedcontent.com/media/5f775c7b7cad407e578daa84/3bcb94c79a395bed33d9ba34c47d8e7d.png)

### Rachio Generation 1

Leave your Gen 1 Rachio controller unplugged for 15 minutes to clear any residual data. The controller can now be reconnected. If you are unable to reconnect the controller, please ensure you are connected to a dedicated 2.4 network.
