Features
Seamless Integration
The David AirLink system seamlessly integrates with the Rachio App. Users can tap into the Air Quality Index and each individual pollutant to see an easy to understand description of the pollutants and their levels.
The Davis AirLink reports concentrations of:
- Coarse particulate matter
- Fine particulate matter
- Ground level ozone
- Carbon monoxide
- Nitrogen dioxide
- Sulfur dioxide.
Notifications
The Rachio App can also send a push notification when the Air Quality Score is anything other than Good. We’ll only send notifications between 7AM and 7AM, and we’ll only send a single notification per day so we don’t inundate you with notifications.
To enable push notifications for your AirLink, tap the Account icon in the top right corner of the app, and then tap Notifications. Select Davis AirLink, and then tap the toggle to enable notifications.
FAQs
What do air quality monitors do?
Air quality monitors determine the size and concentration of particulate matter in the air, and concentration of various pollutants. The AirLink’s fan draws air into the monitor, and then scans the air with an internal laser and sensor. This allows the monitor to determine the concentration and size of particles based on the strength of the light that reaches the internal sensor.
Why is air quality monitoring important?
Knowing the air quality in your area is important, especially for those who have heart and lung conditions, asthma, or allergies. Wildfires as far as 200 miles away can produce dangerous particulates of PM2.5 or smaller which are hazardous for the lungs.
Why should I integrate this into the Rachio App?
There are several features available in the Rachio App that are not available in the Davis WeatherLink app. AirLink users in the Rachio App get access to air quality notifications when conditions degrade, air quality forecasts, as well as information on common pollutants like ground level ozone.
What does the AirLink measure?
The AirLink provides information about overall air quality and particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10). AirLink users in the Rachio App also get access to air quality notifications, forecasts, and other pollutant information.
What pollutants are reported?
- Pm2.5: Particulate Matter with size of less than 2.5 µm (microns)
- Pm10: Particulate Matter with size of less than 10 µm (microns)
- O3: Ozone
- CO: Carbon Monoxide
- NO2: Nitrogen Dioxide
- SO2: Sulfur Dioxide
Can the AirLink be used as a Carbon Monoxide alarm/detector?
This device must not be used as a Carbon Monoxide detector. The Carbon Monoxide measurements represented in the app are gathered from weather network data, and are not representative of levels of Carbon Monoxide inside your home.
Do I need a Davis AirLink to get Rachio’s Air Quality Monitoring?
Yes. You can purchase a Davis AirLink through Rachio.com. Your order confirmation email will contain an integration code to connect your AirLink with the Rachio App.
What if I already have a Davis AirLink or I want to purchase it from a different retailer?
You can purchase the integration for $29.99 through the Rachio App on your Android or iOS device.
Can I use an air quality monitoring device other than Davis AirLink?
Rachio’s Air Quality Monitoring is only compatible with the Davis AirLink.
Can I use my Davis AirLink indoors?
Yes, the Davis AirLink can be used indoors, but Rachio’s Air Quality Monitoring is focused on outdoor air quality.
What Air Quality Index are you using?
The Rachio App uses the US EPA Air Quality Index.
Will this work outside of the US?
- If your AirLink is configured to use the US EPA Air Quality Index, the Air Quality gauge at the top of the screen in the Rachio app will function normally.
- PM10 and PM2.5 measurements will be reported accurately.
- Individual pollutant levels may not be available.
Can I see current and forecasted air quality?
You can see both current and forecasted air quality:
- Current air quality is taken directly from the Davis AirLink.
- Forecasted air quality is taken from our weather data partner.
What forecasted air quality information do I get?
- The US EPA Air Quality Index numerical score and “Level of Concern”.
- Rachio shows the forecast for the next 4 days.
- Individual pollutants are not available in forecasted data.
Can I view the historical air quality?
At this time only current and forecasted air quality data is available in the Rachio App.
Rachio’s reading of particulate matter is represented differently than other apps. What is “Coarse” and “Fine”?
- “Coarse Particulate Matter” is usually referred to as “PM 10” in other apps. Common sources of this pollutant are dust, pollen, mold.
- “Fine Particulate Matter” is usually referred to as “PM 2.5” in other apps. Common sources of this pollutant are industrial emissions, vehicle emissions, and construction dust.
How do push notifications work?
- If the current Air Quality Index is anything other than “Good”, you will receive a push notification.
- Rachio will check the Air Quality Index once per hour.
- Push notifications will only be sent between 7am and 7pm, and no more than 1 push notification will be sent per day.
Can I configure the push notification?
At this time the push notification can be enabled or disabled.
How many Davis AirLink sensors can I have associated with my Rachio account?
You can add as many sensors that are available on your one Davis WeatherLink account.
I just bought another Davis AirLink sensor, how do I add it to my Rachio account?
Use the “Add device” option from within your Rachio App.
Can I share Air Quality Monitoring to another Rachio account?
At this time Air Quality Monitoring cannot be shared. If you are interested in sharing Air Quality Monitoring to another Rachio account, let us know!
What if I accidentally added the Air Quality Monitor to the wrong home?
You can move the device to a different home on your Rachio account.
What happens if my AirLink stops working?
The Rachio App will fall back to accurate air quality data provided by our weather service partner.
How accurate is the Davis AirLink?
The air quality sensor on the AirLink can measure particulates as small as 0.3 microns with a concentration accuracy of +/- 10 micrograms per cubic meter. The device can provide a reading of particulates from 2.5 microns (PM2.5) to less than 10 microns (PM10). Inhalable particulates that are 2.5 microns or smaller can impact your respiratory system and cause difficulty breathing in some individuals.
When my AirLink stopped working, Davis sent me a replacement. What do I need to do?
Simply setup your new AirLink in the Davis WeatherLink app. Once it’s online, it will start sending data to your Rachio account. When Davis replaces a user's AirLink through their warranty/repair service, the replacement AirLink is encoded with the original device ID. This makes reconnecting to Rachio unnecessary!
How do I unlink my Davis WeatherLink account?
Remove your AirLink sensor(s) from your Rachio account like you would any other device. When all AirLink sensors are removed, your Davis WeatherLink account will no longer be linked with your Rachio account.
How many Davis WeatherLink accounts can I link to my Rachio account?
You can link one Davis WeatherLink account to your Rachio account.
What if I am a Davis WeatherLink power user and I have multiple Davis WeatherLink accounts?
The Davis WeatherLink app allows devices to be shared with other WeatherLink accounts. Share any AirLink devices across your WeatherLink accounts with a single WeatherLink account, then connect that single WeatherLink account to Rachio.
Does the Davis AirLink integration affect my watering schedules?
No, your watering schedules will not be affected by the Davis AirLink integration.
