How do I factory reset and remove a device from my Rachio account?

Last Update:Mar 7 2024 5:00pm • Est. Read Time:Est. Read Time: 3 MIN

Summary

If you already have one or more devices associated with your Rachio account and would like to remove one, follow the steps below for your particular device.

Note

Removing a device will delete all data and settings associated with the device from the Rachio app and server - effectively factory resetting the device. This cannot be undone. Please read the entire entry below for the device you're trying to remove (including any Notes like this one) before completing the associated steps. Again, device settings and data associated with a removed device cannot be recovered.

Remove Smart Sprinkler Controller from Account

  1. Select the Controller you wish to remove from your Home's device list. Ensure the name of the device is displayed at the top of the page.
  2. Select the gear icon (settings) in the top right corner, then select Controller Settings.
  3. On the next page, scroll down to the bottom and select Remove Controller.
  4. Finally, read the warning message, and mark the check box if you agree. This will activate the Remove button.
  5. Click Remove to finish removing the controller from your account.

Note

If your controller is offline, removing it from your account will not clear any Wi-Fi credentials stored in its internal memory. To clear the controller's internal memory, please refer to this article, find your controller model, and follow the associated steps.

Remove Smart Hose Timer Hub from Account

  1. Select the Hub you wish to remove from your Home's device list. If your Hub is currently paired with any Valves, it will not be visible in the device list. In this case, select one of the valves associated with the hub, and then click the gear icon (settings) in the top right corner.
  2. On the next page, scroll down to the bottom and select Forget WiFi Hub.
  3. Carefully read the warning and tap Forget.

Note

Removing the hub will not clear WiFi credentials from the hub’s internal memory. To clear the hub’s internal memory, press and hold the reset button on the bottom of the hub for 30 seconds until the LED flashes red, then release. This should be done before repairing the device. If you continue holding past 35 seconds, the reset process will be canceled.

Forgetting the hub will also delete all valves associated with the hub from your account. The valve(s) will continue to run the schedules that are saved to its internal memory. The valve must be cleared by holding the valve button down for 11 seconds until you see a red light.

Remove Smart Hose Timer Valve from Account

  1. Select the Valve you wish to remove from your Home's device list.
  2. Tap on the 3 vertical dot icon to the right of the valve name.
  3. Tap Valve Settings.
  4. On the next page, scroll down to the bottom and select Forget Valve.
  5. Carefully read the warning and tap Forget.

Note

The valve will continue to run the schedules that are saved to its internal memory. To prevent the valve from continuing to run schedules after it is removed from your account, the valve's memory must be cleared by holding the valve button down for 11 seconds until you see a red light. This should be done before repairing the device.
