Rachio helps protect your neighbors by mitigating fire spread.
- Rachio will automatically begin cycling through your sprinkler zones if your Nest Protect detects smoke.
- Rachio saturates your outdoors and helps mitigate fire spread to your community, creating a defensible space around your home.
How does it work, exactly?
If the Nest Protect reaches it's highest level of alert (emergency - level 3), Rachio will automatically run through each enabled zone for 5 minutes, two times. For example, if you have 8 enabled zones, the sprinklers will run for 80 minutes total. There is up to a 60 second latency between the time Nest Protect reaches emergency and the Rachio starts cycling.
Once these cycles start, they are unaffected by the Nest device, meaning you sprinklers will continue to run to completion, regardless of the Nest Protect status. If you want to stop your zones while they're running you can do so by logging into your Rachio app and clicking on the Stop button on your apps Activity Feed tab.
