How do I use Google Assistant with my Rachio?

The Google Assistant allows you to interact with Google's voice control platform. Simply say "Ok Google" followed by an action to make a request. 


To setup your Rachio controller with the Google Assistant App, follow the steps below:

Download the Google Assistant App

If you haven't already, download and open the Google Assistant App on your phone. Connect your desired Google account with Google Assistant; select CONTINUE:

You'll need to give Google Assistant permission to your device and data to use the service...

Scroll down the bottom of the screen and select "YES I'M IN".

After you opt-in to Google Assistant, the service will launch.

Link Rachio

Tap on the mic icon at the bottom of the screen. Say "talk to Rachio". If you haven't already, you'll need to link your Rachio account with Google Assistant.

Rachio Login

LOGIN to your Rachio account so that your Google Assistant can connect to your Rachio.

Allow Access

After you login to your Rachio account, you'll be asked to select which controller you'd like to link to Google Assistant. Only one Rachio controller can be paired to Google Assistant at a time. 

From the drop down menu, select the controller you'd like to connect. Select ALLOW ACCESS:

Talk to Rachio

After your controller is linked to Google Assistant, you can control your Rachio via Google Assistant. Simply tap on the mic icon at the bottom of the screen and say "Talk to Rachio".

After Google Assistant finds Rachio, make your request by saying "Ask Rachio [ACTION]".

To setup your Rachio controller with Google Home, follow the steps below:

Setup Google Home

If you haven't already, download and open the  Google Home App on your phone. Connect your desired Google account with Google Home. Open the profile menu (three horizontal bars in the upper left hand corner of the screen), then select DEVICES:

The Google Home should auto populate if it hasn't already been connected to an account. Select "SET UP" and select.

Follow the steps in the Google Home app to connect your Google Home to WiFi; select CONTINUE:

Enable Rachio

After your Google Home is online, enable Rachio via MORE SETTINGS:

Within the MORE SETTINGS menu, scroll down to SERVICES and select ASSISTANT APPS:

Within ASSISTANT APPS, scroll down until you find Rachio (apps are listed in alphabetical order):

Link to Rachio

Within the Rachio Assistant App, select LINK ACCOUNT:

Rachio Login

LOGIN to your Rachio account so that your Google Home can control your Rachio.

Turn Rachio on (disable standby mode)

Turn Rachio off (enable standby mode)

  • enable standby

Run a zone

  • start {zoneName}
  • start zone {zoneNumber}
  • water {zoneName}
  • water zone {zoneNumber}
  • turn on {zoneName}
  • turn on zone {zoneNumber}
  • water all zones

Stop a zone

  • stop water
  • stop watering
  • stop Rachio
  • stop
  • turn the sprinklers off
  • turn off the sprinklers
  • turn water off
  • switch off the sprinklers
  • turn off the water

Run a schedule

  • start schedule {scheduleName}
  • turn on schedule {scheduleName}

Troubleshooting

Is your controller not responding?

The Rachio device must be online for the Google Assistant to work. 

Need to remove your controller from Google Assistant?

From the Rachio App page, select UNLINK.
