Using Apple Shortcuts with Rachio
Last Update:Nov 14 2023 7:55pmApple Shortcuts Integration
Apple Shortcuts allow you to control your Rachio products without opening the Rachio app, and can be triggered with the Siri voice assistant or through the Apple Shortcuts app.
Note
Rachio integration with the Shortcuts app is only available on Apple devices with iOS 17 and higher.
Setup:
There are two ways to use Shortcuts with your Rachio products. You can use the default voice command "Siri, run my Rachio!", or you can create a custom Shortcut.
Using the default voice command:
- To use the default voice command, simply activate Siri on your Apple device and say: "Siri, run my Rachio!".
- You will then be prompted by Siri to select (either verbally, or by tapping on the screen) which Rachio Home, Device, and Zone/Valve you would like to run.
- Lastly Siri will ask you how long you'd like to run the Zone or Valve for. You can reply with the duration (in minutes) that you'd like to water for.
Creating a custom Shortcut:
- To use a custom Shortcut, you will first need to create the shortcut. Refer to Apple's support documentation here if you are unfamiliar with creating custom Shortcuts.
- Open the Shortcuts app on your apple device and click the + icon in the top right corner.
- Select "+ Add Action", then tap "Apps" and then scroll down and tap the Rachio app.
- Tap the "Water with Rachio" action, and enter the specifications for the "Home", "Device", "Zone", and "Duration (in minutes)" variables for the action.
- When you want to run the Shortcut, simply activate Siri and say "Water with Rachio!"
